Pros of Studying in Cyprus

Cyprus accepts study gap

For many people who have a gap in their studies, Cyprus could be the best option for them.

It’s one of the biggest benefits of studying in Cyprus.

If you apply to other countries, you might get rejected. But if you apply to Cyprus with a study gap, they won’t reject you for that.

Student Visa requirements are pretty basic

1st world countries or other European countries would want a lot of documentation from you while applying for a study visa.

But the requirements for Cyprus are basic and easily preparable.

No age limit

What is the age limit for the Cyprus student visa?

There is no age limit for the Cyprus student visa for international students. If you are an eligible candidate with all valid documents, age won’t affect you.

If you have a study gap, then certainly your age would also be more too. Most of the other countries won’t provide you with a visa if your age is more, but in the case of Cyprus, it’s not like that.

You won’t get rejected because of higher age.

Note:
If you are below 35 years, there is no problem with age. But if you are above that age, it might create suspicion. They might think your purpose to come to Cyprus isn’t to study but to work or go to other countries.

In that case, you mightn’t get a visa. But it depends. Just to be sure, confirm it with the Cyprus Embassy in your country.

Affordable tuition fee

Colleges in Cyprus are affordable. The tuition fee for a year won’t be more than 4000 Euros.

Even a student from a middle-class family can afford that.

The best thing is you don’t have to pay for all the tuition fees at once. You can pay it on a monthly basis too.

Note:
Universities are more expensive than colleges. University fees can reach up to 10,000 euros a year, which is more than double compared to college fees.

The cost of living in Cyprus is reasonable

When you come to Cyprus, you will find out that the cost of basic daily requirements here is similar to in your country.

Groceries are cheap. Housing, food, and lodging are affordable.

You get to experience the European lifestyle

Cyprus is a European nation. As you already know, Europe is rich in culture and heritage, and Cyprus reflects that.

  • You get to learn new things about people here in Cyprus.
  • The Cypriot lifestyle is different from Asia and Africa.

Cyprus is a less populated country. As the population is less, you rarely get to see any pollution.

People here eat healthy food and believe in “Simple Living, High Thinking.”

Your dream of going to Europe would be completed when you reach and experience Cyprus.

If you are still with me, you have learned that Cyprus is an affordable country for international students, the student visa requirements are basic, and the study gap and age don’t matter while applying.

Everything has advantages and disadvantages. After reading all these good things about Cyprus, it would be a bit bitter to read the bad things about it.

But, we need to know everything about this country before we apply, right? So let’s read about the disadvantages of choosing Cyprus for your higher study.

Cons of Studying in Cyprus

High-profile jobs aren’t open for international students

It doesn’t matter how knowledgeable and experienced you are in your field; you can barely get a white-collar job in that sector.

Most of the jobs in Cyprus are already reserved for Cypriots and Europeans.

You may dream of doing a high-class job, but sadly you won’t get it.

If you have completed your bachelor’s and master’s degree in Cyprus, you might get to do the jobs in your field. But if you are just doing a bachelor’s, they won’t even consider taking you for an interview.

Less working hours assigned by the government for foreign students

International students in Cyprus are only allowed to work for 20 hours per week.

Usually, the minimum wage per hour is 5 Euro, which means you can earn 100 Euro a week.

Now, if your parents can support you with the accommodation and the college tuition fee, earning 400-500 Euro a month would be enough for you to survive.

But, if your parents can’t support you and you are all on your own, I am afraid you won’t be able to afford to study and live in Cyprus.

Racism and Discrimination

There is a lot of racism and discrimination in Cyprus. Not all people are bad, but most of them are highly racist.

Even though people are educated, they tend to discriminate against people based on their skin color. It is one of the cons of living in Cyprus. I suggest you click here to read in detail about the Pros and Cons of Cyprus.

This is the worst thing that I don’t like about Cyprus. So, if you don’t like getting discriminated against, don’t come to Cyprus.

Traveling to other European countries is hard

Even though Cyprus is a European nation, it hasn’t joined Schengen yet.

When it’s not a Schengen country, it becomes tough to travel to other Schengen countries.

You can easily go to Romania, Bulgaria, and Croatia as they are also not in the Schengen Area. Other than that, it’s very difficult to get a tourist visa for other European countries.

Conclusion

You just read an article on the benefits of studying in Cyprus as well as some cons of it.

Personally, I like Cyprus. I am being able to afford it because I do a lot of freelancing jobs. If it wasn’t for that, I already had to go back to my country.

Trust me; I also came to Cyprus to earn money.

But after coming to Cyprus, I realized earning money is not an easy job here.

I suggest you not to come to Cyprus if you intend to earn money. Even if you earn money, you won’t be able to save it. Come to Cyprus only if you intend to study and complete your higher education.

Be wise!
