What “Pink Card” really is?
When I first arrived in Cyprus, my visa was more like a “Tourist visa” rather than a student visa.
Of course, I came here as a student, but until I went to college and then the migration department to register, I wasn’t considered an international student in Cyprus.
As a tourist visa is usually given for 15 days to 90 days, I needed a valid permit in Cyprus to stay for more than that time.
Hence, came the Pink Card, which worked as a valid temporary residence permit for me to stay in Cyprus for one year.
Before my visa expired next year, I had to renew my pink card again.
As a result, I could again stay in Cyprus for another year.

You can look for a job with your pink card
Previously, an international student couldn’t work or do any jobs until 6 months of arriving in Cyprus, but now the rules have changed.
Soon after you receive your pink card, you are allowed to work for 20 hours a week now.
When you look for a job, the employer would want to see your valid pink card because they can’t hire anyone illegal.
So, one of the primary benefits of having a pink card is it helps you find a job.

You will need a pink card to travel to other countries
If you wish to travel to other countries during the holidays, your pink card works as a valid travel permit.
Suppose you wanted to go to Romania from Cyprus for a week on holiday.
You will need to show your pink card to them along with your passport, a holiday letter from the college, travel insurance, hotel booking documents, and so on.
Visiting Romania or Bulgaria from Cyprus is easy, but visiting Schengen countries from Cyprus is kind of hard.

You can travel to your own country
Suppose you wanted to go on holiday in your country. All you have to do is book a plane ticket, show your pink card and passport and that’s all.
No need for documentation and all. Your pink card would do all the talking.
Also, when you want to come back to Cyprus, you will need the same things; a plane ticket, passport, and a pink card.
But make sure your pink card is valid.
You can’t stay in your country for more than 3 months and hope to get back to Cyprus with the same pink card.
Your pink card would be invalid at that time. So be back within three months.

Yes, it’s true. According to the new rules, you can’t look for a job, if you aren’t in Cyprus for more than a year.
You may receive your pink card within 2 to 3 months after you get registered from the migration.
But even after having a pink card, you mightn’t get a job if you aren’t more than a year in Cyprus.
